POSITION DESCRIPTION (11/2024) TITLE: Executive Director (part-time) of a growing non-profit organization REPORTS TO: President/Managing Attorney COMPENSATION: $50-55 per hour starting rate, part-time/transitioning to full-time Coalition Legal is the largest restorative justice law clinic in Lake County. It offers free legal services to indigent residents of Lake County seeking expungements of old criminal records, restoration of driver’s and professional licenses after records are expunged, and healthcare waivers to work in certain healthcare positions. It seeks a part-time executive director to assist in managing staff, maintaining and expanding its board, conducting outreach, managing grant funds and seeking additional funding to finance its rapid expansion throughout Lake County. This is a mostly remote, part-time position with flexible hours and occasional in-person meetings. Inquiries may be directed to Stephen R. Miller at smiller@coalitionlegal.org. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work under the direction of the Board President and within the policies and guidelines set by the Board; the Executive Director has direct responsibility for the day-to-day functions of Coalition Legal. 2. Execute key office functions, including: developing programs and services to accomplish the organization’s mission, coordinating staff and volunteer engagement, and providing leadership in the organization’s fund raising, marketing, communications, and advocacy programs. 3. Draft and implement the Coalition Legal annual budget. 4. Provide day-to-day operational leadership by directing, supervising and coordinating all employees. 5. Articulate the mission, vision, core values and programs of Coalition Legal to all constituencies. 6. Oversee new projects from inception through development, approval and implementation, including identifying grant opportunities and administering grants. QUALIFICATIONS: • A commitment to Coalition Legal’s mission and vision; • Experience preferred, but not necessary, working with a Board of Directors; • Experience preferred, but not necessary, in supervising employees; • Experience preferred, but not necessary, in fundraising from the public and private sector; • Competency in the use of social media; and • Experience preferred, but not necessary, in working with entity and grant budgeting processes. • Bilingual in Spanish preferred. EDUCATION: B.A. or Associate’s degree, advanced degree preferred but not necessary.
