Lake County Broadband Infrastructure Survey
Dear Local Officials, Residents, and Stakeholders in Lake County:
University of Illinois Extension is currently working with your county leadership, the Illinois Office of Broadband, and the Illinois-based Benton Institute for Broadband and Society to distribute a countywide broadband infrastructure survey that currently assists your county’s planning efforts for broadband deployment and lends to a larger plan that will aid their efforts to secure investments from funding sources and project partners.
These surveys are a cooperative service to your county, free-of-charge, and not for university research purposes, and not beholden to any for profit venture – they are community/rural-focused and led by your local leaders in cooperation with University of Illinois Extension’s Community and Economic Development program.
We sincerely hope you and others will (1) take the time to respond to your county broadband survey and (2) aid distribution efforts by forwarding to networks in your county, especially residents, businesses, public entities and anchor institutions, and farmers who you know need to sound in on their needs for affordable, reliable, and high-speed internet. With pending BEAD money impacting RDOF-adjacent areas as well as unserved/underserved parts of the state, it will be key to get input from farmers and landowners at the county level.
Please let folks know they should connect to their local internet connection at locations meaningful to them (home, businesses, farms, and public buildings) and take 5-10 minutes to respond to their county’s survey today:

Thank you for your time and for forwarding this around your county. You are doing a great service in futureproofing your county for better online opportunities such as commerce, telehealth, public safety, precision agriculture, remote work, and much more.
Best,
